According to IBM, a worldwide technology company, AI is “Artificial intelligence (AI) is technology that enables computers and machines to simulate human learning, comprehension, problem solving, decision making, creativity and autonomy.”
But what does this mean?
-AI is an umbrella term for many branches of artificial intelligence. For example, our newly introduced AI technology, generative AI, which programs a computer to think like a human and have the ability to customize its own results to the person, is often just known as AI. The common mistake here is solely relying on and understanding only generative AI. Although it’s quite powerful compared to the evolutions before, it is still crucial to understand what other systems work under the AI umbrella, to fully create this picture of AI.
In my case, living in New York City, I am surrounded by successful individuals wherever I go. In this environment I learn many valuable lessons that will help me in ways many can’t even dream about. Despite this, our world is changing rapidly. Whether overhearing from my parents, or just the scoop of the city, AI is taking over our world, faster than we can even begin to understand. In 15 years, a job in finance, a doctor, or a teacher is going to look completely different, all because of AI. If I’m being honest, I’m driven to be successful and a leader, have the life I want because I worked hard, and frankly in this AI age, deciding what you want to be when you grow up suddenly became 10 times harder. A teacher or a nurse might not even exist by the time I graduate college.
That is why I’m starting early.
How can I learn to be successful and balance this new robot world we’re living in?
Who can know every answer? It’s impossible, but one thing can make it a lot easier. That’s learning AI.
I don’t mean one article you read in the Wall Street Journal, I mean truly understanding AI like the back of your hand. The only way you can thrive in an artificial computerized universe we are being set up for, is working with AI like it’s your assistant. The thing you’re going to have to immerse yourself in is keeping AI as your sidekick, not vice versa. In 10 years, if we aren’t well educated, artificial intelligence is going to be our new boss, and we don’t want a computer telling a grown, educated adult what to do. I’m not going to pretend it’s going to go away, or that it’s bad. AI will grow to an empire, where computers will understand more than any human brain combined. It will take over jobs, outsmart jobs, and truly become the most evil CEO you can imagine. People work all their life for their dreams, and dreams don’t just happen. There are many obstacles, and the huge one standing in the way of the future is underestimating AI.
So how do we knock down that obstacle before it arrives?
The future of a new understanding of artificial intelligence is here.
I will research and research all the tools I can, so that the successful CEO is not a programmed piece of aluminium, rather the driven person who worked through 17 years of countless classes and programs, having many jobs and ideas, and most importantly dreams.
We can’t subside all the dreams in our world. So let’s put AI in the passenger seat, while we thrive as the driver. Doing our best in our jobs, taking opportunities, and creating success while AI is there to help you win without taking it.
